On Tuesday the 5th August CTV cameras  came to school and the whole school made a lip dub. A lip dub is when there is a camera going around the school and there's one person who sings for a certain period of time then swaps with other people, each person is mouthing the lyrics of the song that is chosen.

In our lip dub the person who started singing first was year 8 Hana Pearce who organised the Lip dub, then it carried onto a year 6 girl named Sophie Siebuhr. The next person to sing was year three Xanthe Pearce  who sang the next part of the song. Year 7 Georgina Scott was the person to end the lip dub. Everyone in the school was shown in a part of the lip dub. Each class was selected  where they would be when the Lip dub rolled around. The parts of school shown in the lip dub were kids playing on the playground, people cooking in the tech room, some people were  in costumes and others were playing sports. Whenever the camera came past all the kids were to wave and shout. We can’t wait until we get to see the schools Lip Dub on TV.

Mrs Lapthorn's Farewell

Mrs Lapthorn, our Principal has been the school’s principal for 23 years, and now she has decided to move on from Selwyn House. The Choir had been preparing a special surprise for her at her party on Friday night- the Choir had gotten past members of the Choir to join them to celebrate Mrs Lapthorn’s farewell by singing We are the Future!

On Thursday, we had a farewell assembly for the whole school. The Choir sang again, and so did the year ones, twos, threes and fours. The year ones and twos sang Forever Friends which was so cute! The year threes and fours got dressed up in retro white suits with cuffs and sang “Mamma Mia!”, but we can all agree the teachers were the best!

The teachers got dressed up in patchwork dresses and overalls. Can you guess what they were dressed up as? They were dressed up as orphans from Annie and sang “Hard Knock Life”! To make the whole assembly even funnier, an old teacher, Mr Mutch, came dressed up as Darth Vader!

Mrs Lapthorn spoke, and at the end, the year eights rolled out the red carpet for Mrs Lapthorn to walk down. To top it all off, we all got sweet cupcakes at the end! :)
