Come to the new Spanish blog

<English version>

Today at spanish class, we were really excited. Guess what? We are interacting with a Argentina school’s blog and learn about their culture and learn more Spanish. All of the year 7s experienced writing posts before in our class blog. However this blog is different. We are sharing our culture with an OTHER COUNTRY!!!!! We discussed some topics we can possibly write on the blog. Some of the topics were daily routine, uniform, introduction, and so on. I’m really looking for to write a blog post about the boarding hostel. Are you all looking for this blog, too? Leave a comment below about your ideas for the blog~

Being A Boarder

Be a super hero for the planet!!

Today at assembly, the enviro leaders talked about the earth hour.
New Zealand is almost the first country to celebrate the earth hour.
My family in Korea will celebrate the earth hour after 6 hours from when we celebrated.

2014’s Earth hour is……..
  • on 29th of March
  • from 8:30 to 9:30
  • to save Earth energy

Some people might be curious about the reason why we are putting effort to save Earth energy. They can think that there are plenty of Earth resources left for us and our next generation to use. The resources make the energy and the energy provides us the light, electricity, heat and so on. However, the truth is different.

  1. Water- The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations is predicting that by 2025, 1.8 billion people will be living in countries or regions with absolute water scarcity.
  2. Oil- The BP Statistical Review of World Energy in June measured total global oil at 188.8 million tonnes, from proved oil resources at the end of 2010. This is only enough to oil for the next 46.2 years.
  3. Natural gas- A similar picture to oil exists for natural gas, with enough gas in proven reserves to meet 58.6 years of global production at the end of 2010.
  4. Phosphorus- Without this element, plants cannot grow. Essential for fertiliser, phosphate rock is only found in a handful of countries, including the US, China and Morocco. With the need to feed 7 billion people, scientists from the Global Phosphorus Research Initiative predict we could run out of phosphorus in 50 to 100 years unless new reserves of the element are found.
  5. Coal- This has the largest reserves left of all the fossil fuels, but as China and other developing countries continue to increase their appetite for coal, demand could finally outstrip supply. As it is, we have enough coal to meet 188 years of global production.

What other things can you do to save our planet?  Answer as a comment below:)
