On Thursday, the UNESCO (United Nations Scientific and Cultural Organisation) group at Selwyn House visited St James School to video them getting ready for the Ellerslie Flower Show. They also do the UNESCO programme. They welcomed us with traditional Samoan song and dance. Two kids, Cecily and Preston are competing in the Kids Can Cook competition and sampled their delicious “lettuce wraps” on us so that we could give them some feedback on it. We all loved their scrumptious creations!
We then interviewed some students about the Ellerslie Flower Show and they seem very excited about it. They were all very involved and some of them built a water feature! Come visit them on the weekend of the 29th-30th and support them!

Hi Enya, Hattie and Violette,
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like such a fun day. It sounds like the St James children were very welcoming. Cecily and Preston's lettuce wraps sound divine! Yum! Did you get the recipe or is it top secret? I will have to ask my daughter to make me some! ;)
How amazing that some of the students have built a water feature. I hope they do very well at Ellerslie. Are any of you going?

It was such a great trip! Their welcome was amazing; they are a really talented school. I agree, the lettuce wraps were delicious, and (for Mrs C-M) there is a slight chance we get to go to Ellerslie.

Yes it was very fun, everybody there was so talented and friendly. Apparently we will get the recipe for the wraps. It was a great experience and we hope to stay in touch with St James.
ReplyDeleteHow nice to go to a different school and see what they are doing. How exciting it must be for them to exhibit at Ellerslie. I do hope we get the recipe as it's sounds delicious. I am sure you all represented Selwyn House very well.
