World Read Aloud Day

Today was International World Read Aloud Day. What is World Read Aloud Day? World Read Aloud Day is a celebration of children’s rights to read. We all had to dress up as our favourite book characters. Us three went as Draco Malfoy (Violette- From Harry Potter by J.K Rowling), Cassie (Enya- From The Fifth Wave by Rick Yancey) and Kate (Hattie- From Awakening by Natalie King).

We all had lots of fun dressing up- some people in our class went as Minions from Despicable Me! In the morning, we got to read stories to our buddies at Assembly! They all had put lots of effort into their costumes- there was an Elsa, a Monster High, a Cinderella- even a homemade Gruffalo! They were all super cute dressed up!

After the Assembly we had a special guest writer come to speak to Year 7 and 8- Kathleen’s mum and the author of Awakening, Natalie King! She taught us about how to develop a character and how to brainstorm properly when writing. We all loved having Natalie talk to us and she also gave us a signed copy of her book to our class!
